Create Unforgettable Memories at Our Impressive Vietnamese Wedding Venue
Fleur Event Venue in Fawkner, Melbourne, is home to one of the largest Vietnamese communities in Australia. We have hosted Vietnamese weddings across all traditions – traditional Buddhist ceremonies, Vietnamese Catholic weddings with church formalities, and modern receptions that weave both cultural and contemporary elements together.
We understand the Lễ Dạm Ngõ (engagement meeting), the Lễ Hỏi (formal engagement ceremony), and the Lễ Cưới (wedding reception). We know the importance of the ancestor altar, the áo dài procession, the tea ceremony hierarchy, and the lion dance entrance. You don’t need to explain your traditions to us – we already know them.
Melbourne has over 80,000 residents of Vietnamese background. Fleur is positioned in the northern suburbs to serve this community – and to deliver the scale, quality, and cultural respect your celebration deserves.
Vietnamese Wedding Traditions We Support
The Full Vietnamese Wedding Day — Honoured Here
AT THE BRIDE’S FAMILY
The bride’s family gathers for the farewell ceremony before she joins the groom’s family. Our foyer and garden area provide the perfect setting for the áo dài procession arrival photography and the groom’s party entrance. Our team coordinates the arrival sequence and timeline.
AT THE VENUE · ANCESTOR ALTAR & FAMILY INTRODUCTION
The lion dance blesses the couple and brings prosperity to the marriage. At Vietnamese receptions – including Vietnamese Catholic weddings — the lion dance is performed as the couple makes their grand entrance into the ballroom, or at the opening of the banquet. The Fleur Ballroom has the open floor space, ceiling clearance, drum accommodation, and sound system for a full professional lion dance performance. We manage the troupe briefing and timing integration.
BRIDAL SUITE · THROUGHOUT THE DAY
Vietnamese brides traditionally wear the red áo dài for the tea ceremony and change to a white wedding gown for the church or civil ceremony, then to an evening gown for the reception. Our fully appointed private bridal suite supports multiple outfit changes throughout the day, with a dedicated attendant on hand. The garden area and floral canopy inside the ballroom provide stunning backdrops for áo dài photography.

What Sets Us Apart
Vietnamese weddings are multi-generational, extended-family celebrations. Our Fleur Ballroom seats 400 guests in the round-table format your family expects – with no compromises on space, flow, or service.
Our ballroom has the ceiling height, open floor plan, and professional sound system to host full lion dance and dragon dance troupes. We manage all performance logistics.
One of the most common pain points for large Vietnamese weddings. We eliminate it entirely – 110 dedicated on-site car spaces, with easy access for elderly guests and large family groups.
SDE screenings are one of the most emotionally powerful moments of a Vietnamese reception. Our AV setup is fully integrated for full HD screening during the banquet.
Fleur’s signature floral ceiling is one of Melbourne’s most photographed wedding installations – an extraordinary backdrop for áo dài portraits and the couple’s grand entrance.
Everything you need to know about Vietnamese Wedding Venue
Do you support Vietnamese tea ceremonies (lễ vu quy / lễ gia tiên)?
Yes – in full. We set up the ancestor altar with incense holders, candles, and fruit offerings. We provide the red and gold double happiness décor (song hỷ), ceremonial teapot and teacups, and kneeling cushions. Our coordinators understand the family hierarchy for tea serving and will walk through the ceremony timeline with you before the event.
Can we have a lion dance at our Vietnamese wedding reception?
Yes. The Fleur Ballroom is specifically suited to lion dance performances – open floor, appropriate ceiling clearance, professional sound system, and staff who know how to time the performance to the couple’s grand entrance or banquet opening for maximum impact.
How many guests can attend a Vietnamese wedding banquet at Fleur?
The Fleur Ballroom seats up to 400 guests in round-table configuration – the traditional format for Vietnamese wedding receptions. For more intimate celebrations, the Rosette Room seats up to 110 guests.
Do you accommodate same-day edit (SDE) video screenings?
Yes. Our AV system supports full HD projection for SDE screenings during the reception banquet – one of the most popular and memorable traditions at Melbourne Vietnamese weddings. We work directly with your videographer to ensure a seamless playback experience.
Do you serve Vietnamese food and traditional banquet dishes?
Yes. Our culinary team offers traditional Vietnamese banquet menus featuring gỏi cuốn, phở, whole steamed fish, heo quay (roast suckling pig), seafood courses, and Vietnamese desserts. All menus are fully customisable and we accommodate Buddhist dietary requirements, halal, and vegetarian preferences.
Is Fleur suitable for Vietnamese Catholic weddings?
Absolutely. Vietnamese Catholic weddings typically combine a church ceremony in the morning with a traditional-style evening reception including tea ceremony, áo dài procession, lion dance, and Vietnamese banquet. Our venue is designed to accommodate this full day format – you have access from the morning for setup and ceremonies through to the evening reception.
